A Windy Day...
Well, maybe not windy in the traditional sense! This photo session had its own windmaker - Marie, the Harris Hawk. She was a stunning performer - and I feel truly honored to have been part of this magical shoot at the High Desert Museum.
If you haven't already - pick up a copy of True North Parenting, or visit their website. The families profiled are wonderful (you can check out MOsley WOtta's website here), and the photography was a joy to capture.
Whoosh!

A step back in time...
I recently went to take some photographs at one of my favorite local busin
esses, Action Typesetting & Print - and to my surprise, got sucked back in time to when I was in the Visual Communications program at Chemeketa Community College.
I took classes there after I got my 4-year studio art degree at Willamette University in Salem. I had been working in a promotions position at Salem Center, and when I had to design promotional pieces in Microsoft Word - I wanted to throw my computer out of the window... I knew there was a better way! So, I wandered over to the community college and dove right in. It was interesting doing post-graduate vocational training... but apparently I was the trend - as a vocational magazine interviewed me for a story they were writing on the very thing.
We studied everything - from burning plates for offset presswork, to back and white photography, do endless (and endles
s) thumbnail sketches of print ad designs (endless). It was 1997, and before the digital photography age, but Photoshop was alive and well in the design arena. I learned that (version 3, I believe, was my first PS purchase) - as well as PageMaker, QuarkXpress and Freehand... I still use them for any design work that comes my way.
I can still remember the sights, smells and sounds of the offset press room. I was engaged at the time, and was able to design and run my own wedding invitations on the press. How many brides can boast that?
Fast forward to last Wednesday - with camera in hand I was delighted to explore the back rooms of Action Typesetting. I hope you enjoy these few photographs...

Spectaculous...
{really, there weren't too many words for the sunset last night, so I felt I had to make one up}
Q What's even better than a fantastic sunset?
A Wrapping up a {charming} family photo session with a fantastic sunset. We'd taken all of the great photos we could wring out of these ADORABLE and charming kiddos, and it was time to play. Have I mentioned that I love to play?

I love a party!
It's always fun to crash a party! Last night I got to do it with fellow photographer Tambi Lane!
The scene - the Advantage Dental Summer Meeting!
It was lots of fun, and even culminated with a live auction (quite entertaining), and the giveaway of a brand new car. The beverages were beautiful - thanks to Twist Cocktail Catering! and the food - fantastic. My favorite Country Catering brought the BBQ and it was delish!

Amazing Weekend!
Really, it was a mom-photographers dream! The "little" boys and I got to attend on of our favorite events in Bend, and they actually launched. – and it was gorgeous! Loved every early-morning minute of the Balloons Over Bend festival!
Also got to hang with our very first Bend-friends (can't believe its been 7 years!) - and wound up playing barber to their 14-month old heartbreaker! Doesn't get much better than that!

A Moment Captured
This is EXACTLY why I make photographs. To be able to capture the moment, like my youngest loosing his first tooth. I love these, more than you may guess...

Deschutes County Week of the Young Child
My idea of a good time is photographing kids having fun, just doin' their thing! I'm so very excited to able to do just that this week at the Week of the Young Child events! If you see me at any of the events this week, and want great photos of your kiddos being kiddos... let me know! Images from the week are available, just ask me how in person - happy to share!
Want to know which events I'm bringing the camera to? Shoot me an email!

Just a girl - and her camera.
It is pretty rare for me to shoot images that don't involve people. I LOVE shooting people! However, for 7 years now this spot along the road has intrigued me. I finally had the opportunity to make these photographs, and it was quite gratifying, I must say!!!
I'm sure a lot of you will recognize this spot of road on the way to Portland (from Bend), just before you head up into the mountains, passed Warm Springs.

I love a party!
Don't you just love parties? I sure do. I had so much fun at Tom's 60th birthday party last night. I met some amazing people (including one of Tom's daughters, and fellow photographer Alli Lang) - and was able to capture some fabulous moments for Jeannie and Tom.
What I loved, was that they were able to ENJOY themselves, and not have to worry about picking up a camera to be sure the event was documented. Tom is an avid photographer, and can often be found capturing his own moments... but I'm happy to have been there for him and his family, so they could simply enjoy the fabulous party!
Happy 60th, Tom, and you've a beautiful family - and amazing friends.
